-Advanced Masterclass Day Retreat for Practitioners-

Join respected functional nutritionist & educator Tanya Borowski with her Expert guests as she delineates underlying causes, pathologies & personalised integrative approaches for Endometriosis

Wednesday 15th October | Hawthbush Farm, East Sussex

Endometriosis affects 10% of women from puberty to menopause – that's over 1.5 million people in the UK, and nearly 200 million globally. Endometriosis can be a difficult condition to make progress with, in part because our understanding of its causes have been poorly understood, research into exclusively women's health conditions remains chronically underfunded, and this is exacerbated by a lack of knowledge or understanding of endometriosis and its symptoms by first-line healthcare practitioners – GPs. Yet at last, the tide is turning…….

Endometriosis is experiencing a paradigm shift , finally, we are moving away from the polar opposite extremes of young women experiencing years of dismissal of their symptoms to the brutal diagnostic approach long delivered by gynecology; "Endometriosis is a chronic incurable condition with cyclical pelvic pain, heavy bleeding, infertility, and reduced quality of life as its main manifestations."

This limited perspective is now being challenged with  Endometriosis being recognised as a whole-body (systemic) condition involving multiple interconnected loops involving sex hormones, genetics, dysbiosis, angiogenesis, the immune system, the nervous system & environmental burdens, all unique to each individual woman.

It's time to reframe endometriosis—to understand the interconnected biochemistry and provide women with a comprehensive range of integrative, nutritional, and medical therapeutic options for whole-body support.

AGENDA

9.45: Arrival & welcome refreshments

10.15- 11.30 Shifting the paradigm; Mapping The Pathogenesis of Endometriosis through an Integrative lens with Tanya Borowski

The paradigm shift we're witnessing isn't about adding the next “endo” formulated supplement to conventional care – it's about completely reimagining pathogenesis through an integrative understanding that honors the intricate web of biological, environmental, and psychosocial factors that converge to create this complex syndrome.

Through this new lens, we see endometriosis not as a hormonally driven gynecological condition, but as the outcome of multiple interconnected system failures: compromised detoxification pathways creating hormonal chaos, dysbiotic microbiomes and infectious burdens triggering systemic inflammation, unresolved trauma dysregulating the nervous system, and environmental toxicants disrupting cellular communication. Each factor doesn't work in isolation – they create cascading loops of dysfunction that amplify each other, explaining why conventional single-target approaches so often fail.

In this foundational session, we'll deconstruct the old paradigm and reconstruct a comprehensive pathogenesis map that explains not just how endometriosis develops, but why it persists, why it varies so dramatically between women, and most importantly – where and how we can intervene.

Learning outcomes:

  • The role of the microbiomes, immune & nervous system

  • Understanding the inflammatory-angiogenesis-hormone loop

  • Progesterone resistance & its role in endo

  • Genetic & epigenetic factors

  • Indicated interventions based on sex hormone pathology

  • Evidence based & clinically proven nutritional & herbal medicine interventions.

  • Hormonal medical management: efficacy & how to safely support symptoms alongside the hormonal IUD

11.30-12.00: Coffee + herbal tea & snack break, accompanied with some grounding nervous system work in the meadow

12.00-1pm: Endometriosis through the lens of Immune dysfunction with Tanya  Borowski

In this lecture Tanya  will explore how aberrant immune responses—including altered macrophage function, compromised natural killer cell activity, dysregulated cytokine networks, and impaired immune surveillance—create a permissive environment for ectopic endometrial tissue survival and proliferation. We will examine the intricate relationship between hormonal influences and immune dysfunction, investigate how chronic inflammation perpetuates the disease process, and discuss the critical role of the endocannabinoid system in modulating both endocrine & immune responses together with pain pathways in endometriosis.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Analyze immune system dysfunction in endometriosis

  • Examine the role of chronic inflammation in endometriosis pathogenesis,

  • Understand endocannabinoid system dysregulation in endometriosis, including its impact on pain processing, inflammation resolution, hormonal interactions, and the gut-brain-pelvis connection.

  • Integrate knowledge of immune, hormonal, and endocannabinoid system interactions

1-2pm - Lunch catered by Wild Alchemy Foods

Enjoy a delicious vegetarian lunch connecting with colleagues & presenters in the beautiful surroundings of Hawthbush Farm , weather permitting we’ll be eating outside. There will be a fire pit and blankets to keep off the autumn chill if we need.

2.10-3.20pm  The Hidden Trigger: LPS, Dysbiosis and the Microbiome's Role in Endometriosis Inflammation with Tracey Randell; Nutritional Therapist, IFM Certified Practicioner

One of the most groundbreaking discoveries in endometriosis research has been the recognition that this condition isn't just about rogue endometrial tissue – it's about systemic inflammation driven by microbial imbalances.

In this session, we'll explore the intricate relationship between dysbiosis and endometriosis, decode the mechanisms by which LPS perpetuates chronic inflammation, and most importantly, discover evidence-based strategies to manipulate and restore healthy microbiome balance

Learning outcomes:

  • The LPS theory and its role as a primary inflammatory driver in endometriosis

  • Identify the four key microbiome environments (gut, vaginal, oral, and endometrial) and assess how dysbiosis in each cavity contributes to endometriosis pathogenesis and symptom severity

  • Integrate microbiome-focused interventions into comprehensive endometriosis treatment plans

-Comfort break-

3.30-4.45pm Beyond the Lesions: How Nervous System Dysregulation and Trauma Fuel the Endometriosis Fire with Rachel Jessey; Nutritionist, Naturopath & Quantum Biologist Practioner

The most revolutionary understanding in endometriosis care may be this: the nervous system doesn't just feel the pain – it creates and perpetuates it. Far beyond the traditional view of endometriosis as a purely gynecological condition, we now recognize that nervous system dysregulation and unresolved trauma are fundamental drivers of the inflammatory cascade, pain amplification, and treatment resistance seen in so many women.

When the nervous system becomes trapped in chronic fight-or-flight states – whether from medical trauma, sexual trauma, or the relentless stress of living with dismissed symptoms – it creates a neuroinflammatory environment that feeds endometriosis lesions, sensitizes pain pathways, and hijacks the body's natural healing mechanisms.

Learning outcomes:

  • This understanding opens extraordinary therapeutic possibilities that go far beyond prescribing adaptogens or beta-blockers. We're talking about interventions that work with the body's innate wisdom to restore nervous system balance, release trapped trauma, and rewire pain pathways.
