Women's hormones are beautifully complex, yet highly sensitive and responsive to all aspects of our environment: from our nutrition, sleep patterns, blood sugar management, weight, inflammatory burden and status of other hormones like insulin & thyroid. 

Every one of us women transitions through perimenopause and into menopause, yet so many fear this natural process, associating it with negativity and loss of youth. Well, It’s time for a reframe ladies-The ‘pause years are a natural, planned process of evolution, being the empowering second “act” of a woman’s life. This act is actually your second wind, the first  was simply the warm up! 

While the conversation around the ‘pause’ is infinitely more out in the open than a decade ago, these life stages are still very much referenced as a condition or affliction and requires a ‘fix’, rather than a natural, planned process of evolution. As teens, we learned about getting our period and pregnancy. As women, we learn about pregnancy health. Yet most of us find ourselves completely in the dark for menopause and midlife health challenges. I’m out to change that! 

I passionately feel that when women are informed we are rooted in a place of empowerment rather than a fear of the unknown, as such My 360 degree functional health retreat: The Art of a Woman's Wellbeing 40+ is lovingly curated for women in any stage of your ‘pause’: peri or meno. It is designed to demystify and explain what is actually happening within your body, and by doing so take away any fear of entering these new phases of your lives. 

Over 7 days, with a straight talking promise, backed by science, I’ll explain though a combination of themed talks and workshops what is happening to your body, and discuss everything from HRT,( types, doses and forms), gut and the microbiome, vaginal health & UTI's, body shape changes, diet myths & truths, herbal supplements, what testing you should be asking of your GP and appropriate nutrition and lifestyle interventions. 

There will be plenty of “me” time to enjoy a holistic massage, eat beautiful nourishing food, sunbathe, swim in the landscaped pool with acres of wildness as your backdrop and join a guided walk, yoga or fitness class.  

At Wild View, there are no cars, no roads, no neighbours. Nothing but wilderness and nature, it is the most perfect place to immerse yourself for a week of taking care of you! This 360-degree holistic approach to women's health provides you with a far more informed approach, and the tools you need to help navigate through these life stages to secure your optimal and very BEST health and wellbeing - because as someone once said…. The core elements to The Art of a Woman's Wellbeing at 40+ Retreat:-

Nutrition: "You are what you eat" may sound like a bit of a cliché, but it’s quite literally true. The virtues of a balanced diet have long since been promoted by health professionals, and with good reason. Fad diets or putting your body through extreme ‘quick fixes’ are not sustainable ways of staying healthy and in shape. 

All meals have been designed to be abundant in colour and texture, providing the nutrients and phytochemicals to work on a therapeutic level to balance blood sugar levels, best manage feisty hormones such as insulin, leptin and cortisol that disrupt metabolism, boost microbiome diversity and lessen bloating.   

As important as the food itself it the way we engage with our food. Meal times at the retreat are a wonderful social occasion too. Setting the scene for engaging conversations, laughter and making new connections and friends. The power that can be harnessed in a group setting never ceases to amaze me. 

You'll also receive any array of recipes in a beautiful A5 recipe book at the end of the retreat so you can keep on eating the same delicious food at home. The menu will be packed with colour and nutrients, organic or locally sourced , alcohol & gluten free, and will be 100% plant based -vegetarian, we can of course cater for individual intolerances and sensitivities. 

Body: Under the guidance of our resident yoga and fitness professionals, you’ll be offered a carefully selected series of physical exercises every day, stimulating fat loss & kickstarting metabolism while also individually supporting anyone in the group that is suffering with pain or specific conditions. 

From a guided group walk every morning, Resistance Training, Dynamic Pilates flow, Yoga or Functional fitness. There will be 3 “Body” sessions per day activating different areas of the body and getting you to a level where you feel confident to carry on with regular exercises and movement at home. 

All sessions are optional, this is not a boot camp! But we of course encourage you to participate as much as you can, at a level that suits you - we’ve got your back! 

Massage is also available on site for an extra fee. Designed to treat the individual and can be relaxing, balancing or energising -  you choose. The Wild View therapist's are highly qualified, trained in many different disciplines from reflexology, Reiki, to no hands, Shamanic Altai massage, trigger point, Myofascial release, lymphatic drainage & deep tissue -  you will be, quite literally, in great hands! 

Functional Medicine: Over the course of the week, through health talks and nutritional and lifestyle workshops Tanya will present her in-depth knowledge to cover the key roles of the gut, immune system, gut brain axis and of course our hormones. You’ll learn how lifestyle and environmental factors can disrupt these intertwined systems and lead to greater symptoms in perimenopause and menopause. You will learn how to work on these factors, be given many tools through combining nutritional, lifestyle and supplemental advice to better optimise your overall health.

 

Mind: Our programme includes a series of daily guided meditations and breathing exercises to help refocus on what’s truly important, restore calm & tranquility. Every evening we will run a restorative 45 minute Yoga Nidra session. Workshops and seminars will also certainly keeping the mind stimulated with new information.

What’s included in your Retreat

* 7 nights accommodation in boutique rooms with en-suite bathrooms (unless choosing to stay in yurt or shepherd's hut)

* An exclusively limited group, maximum of 20 guests so we can dedicate sufficient time to each of you

* 2 x daily movement sessions (to accommodate all levels of fitness and injury) to tone the body, build strength & endurance & stimulate healthy metabolism 

* 1 x  daily Sunrise (730am) guided walk in the beautiful hills and pathways that surround Wild View, with the added bonus of some wild lake swimming! 

* 1 x daily  6pm Yoga Nidra restorative session

*3 x daily delicious meals supporting gut healing and optimising metabolism and hormone equilbrium. All produce is local, organic & sustainably sourced. A herbal tea, fresh herbs and spices and water station is available all day

Accommodation

Wild View Retreat has a range of different styles of first-class accommodation all designed to match your personal retreat needs

Whether it be your own luxurious double room with uber comfy super-king size bed or your own secluded outdoor yurt or safari tent on a private deck with impeccable views; there is range of accommodation types with varying price options to meet your needs.

Share, either with a friend /partner or with another retreat guest of the same gender. You are also welcome to choose to go for single occupancy. Either way you are set to love the accommodation at Wild View Retreat. Each interior has been tastefully designed and decorated with simple locally sourced materials. All outdoor accommodations have been built by hand using a combination of recycled wood reclaimed from the old ruins left beforehand and local materials.

• French double doors with fly screen and stunning views of the mountains
