Red clover contains isoflavones - a type of phytoestrogens. Phytoestrogens bind with weaker oestrogen receptors(beta) and can mimic the effects of natural oestrogen. In this way for women going through the menopause red clover may help to relieve hot flushes and night sweats and improve bone density.
Taken as a tea, it can be drunk through the day. 1 teaspoon in hot water, let brew for 20 minutes.
